(HARRISBURG) – Senator Guy Reschenthaler (R-37) was recently appointed to serve on five Senate Committees for the remainder of the current legislative session.
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati appointed Senator Reschenthaler to serve on the following Senate standing committees for the remainder of the 2015-16 Session:
- Banking & Insurance
- Community, Economic & Recreational Development
- Game & Fisheries
- Intergovernmental Operations
- Law & Justice
Along with the five standing committee assignments, President Pro Tempore Scarnati appointed Senator Reschenthaler to serve on the Majority Policy Committee as Chairman David Argall’s vice-chair. In this capacity, Reschenthaler will work to augment Chairman Argall’s efforts of finding innovative and effective policies. Additionally, Senator Reschenthaler was appointed to the Legislative Data Processing Committee.
“Senate Committees provide a strong and experienced environment for legislation to be vetted and shaped before moving on to the full Senate,” Scarnati said. “I am confident that Senator Reschenthaler will offer good perspective and ideas as issues advance and policies are formed in each of the five committees to which he has been appointed.”
Reschenthaler said he will use his position on the committees to address key priorities including reforming the broken public pension system and privatizing the liquor monopoly.
“Senate Committees are an important part of the legislative process, not just in drafting and considering legislation but reviewing and recommending policy and responding to concerns,” Reschenthaler said. “I’m pleased to have been appointed to these panels and look forward to working on many of the issues that my constituents have told me are important to them.”
