(HARRISBURG) – Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25), Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-34) and Senate Law & Justice Committee Chairman Chuck McIlhinney (R-10) have issued the following statement regarding Senate Passage of House Bill 466.
“Today is a historic day for Pennsylvania as we bring our liquor system into the 21st Century. Since 1933 we have operated under the current liquor system, which is abundantly flawed for our times. However, with passage of HB 466 today, we are able to chart a new course.”
“We have listened to our constituents across the state, and have worked together to bring the changes they have strongly requested. Privatization of Pennsylvania’s liquor system will increase consumer choice and convenience for all areas of the Commonwealth, while protecting our small business owners who have invested so much in their communities.
“This bill is the product of years of study, debate and effort by members of the General Assembly, and we are pleased to see this issue advancing toward enactment into law. We encourage Governor Wolf to listen to the people of Pennsylvania and sign this bill to move our state forward.”
