The Senate today approved legislation introduced by Senator Bob Robbins to update Pennsylvania’s laws regarding self-storage facilities.
Senate Bill 799 now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
“This bill updates the current law and streamlines the process of turning default self-storage units around,” said Senator Robbins. “This legislation brings Pennsylvania’s law into line with those of many other states. Currently, 23 state lien laws have been revised with several more being reviewed currently in the legislative process this session.”
Senate Bill 799 establishes provisions that:
- Allow for first class mail and email notifications to tenants
- Address the issue of access by a tenant if a tenant is in default of payment
- Address the issues of towing if property is vehicle or watercraft
- Address limitations of value of contents
