Media Alert – Legislators, Chester County District Attorney to Outline Provisions of PA’s New Strengthened Arson Law at August 6 News Conference

Pennsylvania’s new, strengthened arson law will be the focus of a news conference to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, at the Thorndale Fire Company, located at 3611 East Lincoln Highway, Thorndale PA.

Among those scheduled to attend are Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9), Senator John Rafferty (R-44), Senator Andy Dinniman (D-19), Representative Tim Hennessey (R-26) and Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan.

Rafferty, who sponsored the arson legislation in the Senate, said the new law was prompted by a series of arsons in the city of Coatesville in 2008 and 2009 that resulted in death and major property damage.  It contains tougher penalties for those who intentionally start a fire.
