HARRISBURG – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) has introduced a resolution designating April 15, 2026, as “Purple Up! for Military Kids” Day and April, 2026 as Month of the Military Child in Pennsylvania. The measure is co-prime sponsored by every veteran in the state Senate.
In recognition of military children and to show appreciation for the many sacrifices they make, the resolution will designate April 15, 2026, as “Purple Up! for Military Kids” and April as Month of the Military Child in Pennsylvania. On April 15th, individuals are encouraged to wear purple, which symbolizes all branches of the Armed Forces in support of military kids and their families.
“As a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, I know too well the sacrifice that comes with defending our country. Service members leave home for sometimes months or years for deployments, leaving their friends, families, and children, behind,” said Pennycuick.
This sacrifice goes beyond the service member. In Pennsylvania alone, over 37,000 children have at least one parent serving in the Pennsylvania National Guard, reserves, or is active duty in the United States Armed Forces.
