Senate Resolution 221 (Mellow) designates the week of January 13 through 19, 2008 as "Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday Week" in Pennsylvania.  Adopted by Voice Vote.

House Bill 1795 (Hornaman) would designate the Powell Avenue Bridge on State Route 299 in Millcreek Township, Erie County as the Staff Sergeant Jeremy R. Horton Memorial Bridge.  Passed:  48-0.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 

Senate Bill 1141 (Gordner) would amend the Second Class Township Code to permit second class townships to sell or transfer real or personal property to a council of government, consortium, cooperative or other similar entity without following the advertising and competitive bidding requirements of the Code.  The bill would also permit second class townships to make purchases and enter into contracts with a council of government, consortium, cooperative or similar entity without following the advertising and competitive bidding requirements.  Passed:  49-0.

Senate Resolution 194 (Greenleaf) directs the Joint State Government Commission to establish a legislative task force with an advisory committee of experts to review, update and codify Pennsylvania's public health law.  Adopted by Voice Vote.

Senate Resolution 223 (Erickson) declares the week of January 27 through February 2, 2008 as "Catholic Schools Week" in the Commonwealth.  Adopted by Voice Vote.
