Senate Policy Committee to Hold February 21st
Hearing on Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy
(HARRISBURG) - The Senate Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on
Thursday, February 21st in Harrisburg, to hear testimony on the state's
Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy and its impact on taxpayers across
Pennsylvania, according to Committee Chairman Senator Jake Corman
(R-Bellefonte).
The hearing will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon in Room 8EA of the Capitol East
Wing.
Corman said the panel will hear input on the state's Chesapeake Bay Tributary
Strategy and its impact on taxpayers across Pennsylvania, the impact on the
state's farming community and the impact of public sewer rate payers to comply
with the regulations.
"We have heard from many farmers, local governments, and public sewer
authorities and rate payers that Pennsylvania's Chesapeake Bay Tributary
Strategy is too costly to implement," Corman said. "The Majority Policy
Committee is committed to looking at this situation more closely so we can be
better advised and prepared to advocate for any appropriate changes."
Scheduled to appear before the committee are Department of Environmental
Protection Secretary Kathleen McGinty, local government officials, the
Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, the PA Builders Association, Red
Barn Trading Company, and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. The United
States Environmental Protection Agency will also be represented.
The media and public are invited to attend.
