Senator Jane Orie, Pittsburgh Foundation to Unveil Major New Fund to Support Flight 93 Memorial

On the eve of the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Sen. Jane Orie (R-Allegheny) and the Pittsburgh Foundation will announce a major new fund to help in the construction of the Flight 93 Memorial in Somerset County.

Sen. Orie will hold a news conference to outline the details of the new fund at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, in the Hall of Valor of the Soldiers & Sailors Military Museum and Memorial in Pittsburgh.

Orie said the partnership with the Pittsburgh Foundation will significantly boost fundraising efforts for the Flight 93 Memorial, and continue the successful "Hearts of Steel" campaign which was launched in 2001 to keep alive the memory of the Flight 93 heroes who thwarted an intended terrorist attack on Washington, DC.
