Commonwealth Court Schedules Hearing on
Senate Subpoena Case for Monday at 3:30 p.m.

HARRISBURG – Senator Jane Earll (R-Erie) announced today that the Commonwealth Court has scheduled a hearing for Monday, July 9, at 3:30 p.m. regarding two subpoenas issued by the Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee in an effort to learn more regarding the pending furlough of state employees.

"I am pleased that the court has agreed to hold this hearing on Monday," Sen. Earll said. "That is a quick time frame, and it highlights the importance of the issue."

Sen. Earll and Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson) filed a request with the court early Friday evening, after Secretary of Revenue Tom Wolf and Secretary of Administration Joe Martz chose to ignore duly issued Senate subpoenas which required them to appear before the Senate committee this week.

"It's very disappointing that two members of the governor's cabinet refuse to testify at a public hearing, even after being issued subpoenas." Sen. Earll said. "Our goal is to shed light on the many unanswered questions which impact the lives of more than 25,000 state employees and their families, and the governor's decision to shut down an entire industry with nearly 4,000 additional employees – also hurting their families. We need answers from the administration."

Monday’s hearing will take place in Courtroom #1 on the fifth floor of the Irvis Office Building in Harrisburg.
