Senate Law and Justice Committee to Hear Testimony On
How to Prevent High Risk and Underage Drinking
HARRISBURG -- The Senate Law & Justice Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday,
March 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Hearing Room 8E-A, to hear input on how
to prevent high risk and underage drinking, according to Senator John Rafferty
(R-44), who chairs the committee.
Rafferty said the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will present the
first Act 85 Report on High Risk and Underage Drinking. Chairman
Patrick Stapleton, board member Thomas Goldsmith and William Poe,
Director of the Bureau of Alcohol Education will provide an overview of
the report and answer questions.
Additionally, Dr. Ralph Hingson, Director of the National Institute on
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism’s Division of Epidemiology and Prevention
Research will appear before the committee. Dr. Hingson is a national
expert in high risk and underage drinking and will provide the committee
with an update on national trends, a new federal reporting law and other
efforts to address this important issue.
