Senate Passes Conti Resolution Declaring Week of
April 17th
"National Wildlife Week"
HARRISBURG -- The
Pennsylvania Senate unanimously passed a resolution sponsored by Senator Joe
Conti (R-Bucks) today recognizing the week of April 17th through April 23rd as
"National Wildlife Week."
"Wildlife conservation has
played a significant role in protecting Pennsylvania's diverse game and fish
population," Conti said. "To further that cause, National Wildlife Week is set
aside to educate students and families about wildlife conservation issues."
Founded in 1938 by the
National Wildlife Federation, National Wildlife Week encourages youth across the
country to learn and experience nature - starting in their communities. This
year, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and the Pennsylvania
Wildlife Federation will join with the National Wildlife Federation in
distributing educational materials to students.
"In my new role as Chair of
the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, I am pleased to have the opportunity to
work alongside the Game Commission, Fish Commission and other sportsmen's and
conservation organizations, to continue their good work," Conti said. "Through
education, we can help protect our wildlife for future generations to come."
More information on National
Wildlife Week can be found on the
National Wildlife Federation website.
