Senate Leadership Letter to Governor Regarding Budget Proposal

Governor Rendell,
It should go without
saying that we are extremely hopeful the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia
Eagles will meet in Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6. We believe it vital,
however, that you submit to the General Assembly your budget proposal in
accordance with state law.
The Budget Code requires
that the governor, “not later than the first full week in February of each
year,” “shall submit to the General Assembly … a State budget and program and
financial plan.”
We eagerly await your
budget submission the week of February 7. Should you choose to delay the
budget address, which is optional, we will cooperate.
