Statement by Senator John Rafferty on Senate Confirmation of Bruce Beemer as Attorney General

State Senator John Rafferty (R-44) offered the following statement following the Senate’s unanimous vote today to confirm Bruce Beemer as the next attorney general.

“Mr.  Beemer’s confirmation as attorney general is the first step toward restoring public confidence in the office, something that the dedicated employees of in the Office of Attorney General work hard to do every day.

Today’s unanimous vote demonstrates our bipartisan support for his nomination and our trust in his leadership.

I am confident that Bruce Beemer will meet the challenges he faces in restoring order to the Attorney General’s office and bringing stability and integrity to the position.  He has the crucial experience necessary to lead the office, the respect of the legislature, the administration and, most importantly, the employees of the office.

The state’s top law enforcement official and the public servants in the Attorney General’s office work hard every day for the people of this Commonwealth and are crucial to our efforts to fight crime and promote public safety.

I am grateful for their dedication and confident that Mr. Beemer will provide the consistency, commitment and the continuity that is so crucial to the operation of this very important office.”
