(Harrisburg) – Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25) and Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-34) released a statement today urging Governor Wolf to reconsider his promised veto of House Bill 805, common-sense education reform legislation:
“We urge the Governor to reconsider his pledge to veto House Bill 805 which protects good teachers and allows our school districts the flexibility to make personnel decisions that meet the needs of our local communities. Governor Wolf continuously claims to want to help strengthen schools and protect students. Now is the time for his actions to reflect those words.
“Time and again, when asked, the public has overwhelmingly supported this common-sense reform that safeguards quality teachers and preserves excellence in our schools for our children. Groups representing schools, such as the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, also strongly support this measure. Despite the Governor’s pledges to veto, the Senate listened to our communities and adopted this reasonable education reform measure. We encourage the Governor to listen as well and sign the bill.”
