PA Bald Eagle Family Winning Hearts

From three nests 30 years ago, Pennsylvania’s bald eagle population has blossomed to more than 250 nests located across the Commonwealth, according to the PA Game Commission.

Pennsylvania is proud of its newest feathered family members recently hatched near Codorus State Park.  With the first egg of 2015 appearing on Valentine’s Day and the second laid just three days later, eagle watching is the latest fascination through live streaming and social media.

Report PA Potholes

Pennsylvania’s infamous freeze-thaw cycle is leaving roadways peppered with potholes, according to the PA Department of Transportation.

Motorists are encouraged to report potholes to 1-800-FIX-ROADS (800-349-7623).  Or, send an e-mail through the District and County Customer Care Center.  Callers should be prepared to provide the state route number or name, closest mile-marker, and landmarks to assist in locating and repairing these unwelcomed late winter/early spring problems.

Spring 2015 Drought Watch Declared in 27 PA Counties

A very dry fall followed by below-normal precipitation across the northeast and central PA during January and February are contributing to 27 counties being placed under a drought watch advisory, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Counties under the watch include Berks, Bradford, Cambria, Carbon, Clinton, Columbia, Indiana, Lackawanna, Lawrence, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Potter, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne, Westmoreland, and Wyoming.

Aggressive Driving Campaign Announced in PA

PA State Police and over 330 local municipal police departments will be participating in a second Aggressive Driving Wave throughout spring 2015.

The latest Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project targets 474 PA roadways and locations across the state revealed as problematic by recent crash data.

Distracted driving, following too closely, work zone safety, speeding and driving too fast for conditions are among those actions defined as unsafe.  Two or more contributing crash factors are considered aggressive driving behaviors.
