Committee Hearing Focuses on Veterans’ Issues

The Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee yesterday (February 25) held a public hearing to gather testimony on veterans’ issues, according to Senator Randy Vulakovich, Committee Chairman.

The panel heard from federal and state officials as well as representatives from veterans’ organizations during the hearing. Testifiers included:

Bruce Foster, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, Pennsylvania War Veterans Council and John Getz, Adjutant Quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Vietnam Veteran);

Brigadier General (Ret.) Jerry Beck, Jr., Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs;

Colonel (Ret.) Harold Cooney, Regional Liaison, U.S. Department of Defense;

Lieutenant. Colonel (Ret.) Scott Rainey, Chairman, Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission;

Colonel James McCormack, Co-facilitator of the PA State System of Higher Education Veterans Advisory Committee;

Colonel (Ret.) Edward Fisher, President, LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve.
